What's Different in Windows 11?
If you've upgraded from Windows 10, the biggest change you'll notice is the new layout. Don't worry - everything you need is still there, just in slightly different places.
The Start Menu
The Start menu has moved to the **centre** of the taskbar:
Click the **Windows icon** in the centre of the taskbar
**Pinned apps** appear at the top for quick access
**Recommended** section shows recent files and apps
Click **All apps** to see everything installed on your computer
**Tip:** Right-click any app to pin it to Start or the taskbar for easy access.
The Taskbar
The taskbar is at the bottom of the screen:
**Start button** - opens the Start menu
**Search** - find files, apps, and settings
**Task View** - see all open windows and virtual desktops
**Widgets** - news, weather, and other information
**Windows Update** - keep your computer up to date
Useful Keyboard Shortcuts
**Windows key** - Open/close Start menu
**Windows + E** - Open File Explorer
**Windows + I** - Open Settings
**Windows + L** - Lock your computer
**Windows + D** - Show desktop
**Alt + Tab** - Switch between open windows
**Ctrl + C / Ctrl + V** - Copy and paste
**Windows + Shift + S** - Take a screenshot
Snap Layouts
One of Windows 11's best features for multitasking:
Hover your mouse over the **maximise button** (square icon) of any window
Choose a layout (side by side, quarters, etc.)
Click where you want the window to go
Select other windows to fill the remaining spaces
